All entries are due to the Pavilion Annex on Sunday, before the Fair, from 10 am to 7 pm.

All entries and awards will be released on Sunday, closing day of the Fair, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

1. All entries in this department must have been produced by the exhibitor and completed after last year’s fair.
2. An exhibitor may enter two items in each class.
3. All items must be clean. Soiled items will not be accepted. The Department Superintendent will have the right to reject such items.

GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY FAIR
QUILT BLOCK CONTEST

Sponsored by Elma Variety Store

1. Send a self addressed, stamped envelope to the Grays Harbor County Fair, PO Box 1229, Elma WA 98541 for rules and challenge fabric, or a packet may be picked up at the Fair Office in Elma or at Elma Variety Store, 325 W. Main Street, Elma. There are only 40 sets of challenge fabric available, therefore only one set will be available to each person.
2. Create a 12 ½ inch block to be finished at 12 inches. Do not quilt or finish the edges of your block.
3. There is a 10-inch square of challenge fabric that must be incorporated into your quilt block. At least 1/3 of the challenge fabric must be incorporated into your quilt block. You may use other fabrics of your choice. It is recommended to use the fair theme of “Picure the Fun” along with the fair colors of black, turquoise, and silver. You may embellish as you wish, but please sew your embellishments on.
4. All appliques with fusible web must be sewn on.
5. Block contest entries may be dropped off at any of the above locations, before August 3. If mailed to the fair office, it must be postmarked by August 2.
6. Blocks will be judged by the Fair Sewing & Quilting Judge for ribbon placements. Merchandise awards will be awarded by numerous merchants. There will also be daily People’s Choice Awards, sponsored by Elma Variety Store of Elma.
7. Drawings will be held with 20 blocks given to the name drawn. Each block entered will be one entry in the drawing. More than one entry is acceptable.
8. Please remember to pick up your ribbons and awards following the fair. If not picked up by September 1, ribbons and awards will be forfeited.

ü Borders and sashing
ü Quilting design and technique
ü Binding or edges
ü Corners
ü Quilt marking lines

SPECIAL AWARDS

A $5.00 Gift Certificate will be awarded by McDonald’s to the Outstanding Exhibit in the Youth Devision of the Quilting Department.

B. Adult - persons 17-61 years of age
C. Seniors - persons 62 year of age and over
