GARDENING &

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

All entries are due to the Pavilion Annex on Tuesday, before the Fair, from 1 pm to 8 pm.

All entries and awards will be released on Sunday, closing day of the Fair, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

1. Entries must be grown by exhibitor
2. Exhibits will be judged according to blue, red, & white standards.
3. Threshed seeds shall be exhibited in pint jars.
4. Vegetables and fruits shall be exhibited on plates furnished by the fair.
5. Judging Factors: Type, quality, and uniformity are basic conditions that are used in judging. Type refers to specimens that are regular and typical of the variety. Quality includes primeness for intended use: size, tenderness, cleanliness, and freedom from blemishes, damage, or defects. Uniformity relates to each specimen having the same shape, size, and colors as the others in the exhibit.
6. Up to two entries may be entered in each class. The entries must be different varieties. The variety must be stated on the entry tag.
7. Exhibitor shall bring the correct number of exhibits as listed in each class.
8. No exhibits will be allowed that contain WSDA Prohibited/ Quartined Plants and Washington State Noxious Weeds. Plant lists can be obtained from the Grays Harbor County Noxious Weed Control Board.
9. Exhibits will be removed by the superintendent as needed if spoilage occurs.


SPECIAL AWARDS

A $25 gift certificate will be awarded by Elma Feed Company of Elma, WA to the Most Outstanding Exhibit in the Gardening Department.

A $20 gift certificate will be awarded by Marshall’s Garden & Pet Center of Aberdeen, WA to an Outstanding Exhibit in the Gardening Department.

Merchandise awards, consisting of one 50 lb. bag of fertilizer, will be awarded by Wilbur-Ellis Company of Auburn, WA to four Outstanding Exhibits in the Gardening Department.

¨ Shouldn’t be more than 16% moisture content.

All critters must be the work of the exhibitor. The entry must be made primarily of produce items listed for each class. Use your imagination to combine fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. to create your favorite critter. Produce items may be purchased for this class. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry in each class.
