SEWING

Superintendent:

All entries are due to the Pavilion Annex on Sunday, before the Fair, from
10 am to 7 pm.
All entries and awards will be released on Sunday, closing day of the Fair, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
1. All entries in this department must have been produced by the exhibitor
and completed after last year’s fair.
2. An exhibitor may enter two items in each class.
3. All items must be clean. Soiled items will not be accepted. The Department
Superintendent will have the right to reject such items.
CREATIVE KIDS EXHIBIT
Sponsored by Simpson Credit Union of Elma, WA.
1. This contest is open to children, ages 8 to 16.
2. The child should sew an apron, pillow, placemat, potholder or other item
of similar size out of patriotic colored fabric.
3. Items must be sewn and may include other embellishments.
4. The Grays Harbor County Fair’s general rules and contest policies will
apply.
5. Judging will take place prior to the fair and will be closed to the public.
6. Entries must be brought to the Pavilion Annex at the fairgrounds on Sunday,
August 3 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
PRIZES:
All entries will receive either a blue, red, or white ribbon. The 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd place winners will receive rosettes and merchandise or cash awards
Class 1 – Apron, ages 8 to 11
Class 2 – Apron, ages 12 to 16

Grainline
Stitching accuracy
Pressing
Seam finish
Grading and clipping
Stains/soil
SPECIAL AWARDS
A $25 gift certificate will be awarded by South Sound Sewing & Vacuum of Olympia, WA to the Best of Show Entry in the Sewing Department.
A $5.00 gift certificate will be awarded by McDonald’s to the two Outstanding Exhibits in the Youth Division of the Sewing Department.
